Volunteers will spend 6 days clearing and restoring a remote section of the Idaho Centennial Trail (ICT) located in the heart of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Historic Marble Creek Trail is a 25-mile section of the ICT that is also one of the most challenging because of the many creek crossings and rugged landscapes. The narrow canyon trail passes through remnants of mine sites and traverses vast beaver ponds.
We will be hiking into camp approximately 6-8 miles from the Thunder Mountain trailhead. Trail maintenance will involve heavy brushing and retreading trail sections for approximately 10-14 miles. There may be some invasives/weeds monitoring as well. As the work is completed, the group may bump camp to other sites within the canyon.
This is a strenuous trip with pack support. We will have a packer to haul in tools, equipment, group gear, and food, however individuals will need to carry their own personal gear and items (see packing list).
SBFC will provide breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
