Families for a Livable Climate

Families for a Livable Climate (FLC) is a grassroots organization working to create community for climate action in Montana. We believe that by centering relationships and welcoming a diverse, multigenerational group of Montanans into climate conversations and collective action, we can build unstoppable momentum for a thriving future for all. We were founded 5 years ago after a group of parents came together around a deepened sense of climate urgency following the release of a sobering international climate report. Since our founding we have engaged thousands of Montanans in meaningful conversations and actions around climate resilience, moving the needle on community-driven solutions. Our core program areas are: Climate Communications; Climate Leadership Development & Engagement; and Movement-Building.

Families for a Livable Climate is building a Montana-powered, family-centered climate movement. We create community for climate action by welcoming families of all kinds into the climate space, and equipping them with the tools, support, and leadership opportunities to make a difference. From climate storytelling and advocacy to clean energy and local solutions, we're helping Montanans bridge divides and build a thriving future - for our kids, and for us all.

Since our founding, we have reached thousands of Montanans through community-oriented climate events, educational opportunities, advocacy, and leadership. Examples of our impact include:

• Developing strategic partnerships with over 3 dozen organizations across the state
• Building a network of volunteer working groups engaging hundreds of volunteer hours a year
• Publishing 15 issues of our community-led magazine, The Changing Times, and distributing thousands of copies to 18+ communities around the state
• Collecting and sharing 125+ climate stories online and hosting live storytelling events in Butte, Billings, Missoula, and Hamilton
• Helping families divest $17 million from fossil fuels
• And more!
